National Directory of Managed Care Organizations Now Available on CD-ROM in PDF Format

MANASQUAN, NJ - No more flipping through dog-eared pages of a print directory. The National Directory of Managed Care on CD-ROM in PDF form will make a user's day go a lot faster.

The directory on CD-ROM has been developed by the Managed Care Information Center (MCIC) to meet the needs of users who need to find facts faster, but do not require the file manipulation features of the full database, said Robert K. Jenkins, MCIC CEO.

The new high-speed, searchable directory provides fast, precision searching for managed care plans. Most searches take less than a second.

Users can touch a few keystrokes and pull up the HMO or PPO the user is searching for. The search returns highlighted hits in PDF form. The search results may then be printed.

"The difference and the advantage of this new format is that it helps shorten the research time of professionals who use the directory on a regular, continuing basis," Jenkins said.

The print directory is more than adequate for the occasional user, he explained. "But, for someone whose job includes frequent look-ups of managed care industry business information, the directory on CD-ROM is a significant time saver," Jenkins added.

The CD-ROM directory is also ideal for use in corporate information centers and libraries where print directories tend to get "beat up, pages turn out, and generally 'dog-eared," Jenkins said.

Advantages of the National Directory of Managed Care Organizations on CD-ROM in PDF format include:

  • Profiles of more than 1,750 managed care organizations;
  • More than 10,400 executive contact listings;
  • Updates to the directory made regularly by the MCIC research staff;
  • The most current information on HMOs, PPOs, POSs and utilization review organizations;
  • Users can search by company name, total enrollment, model, plan type, service state;
  • Search results are displayed in a flash on the user's desktop; and
  • The directory is user friendly

More than 4,500 plans are profiled in the new edition, including key officers,

contact information and vital statistics.

Users of the print directory may find the National Directory of Managed Care Organizations on CD-ROM a work saver, said Phyllis Harris, MCIC research supervisor.

The introductory reduced price is $595 ($100 off regular price). The popular reference directory is also available in print, online or full-featured database on CD-ROM.

The directory can be ordered toll-free at (800) 516-4343, or online at:
